We invite you to experience exciting worship and life direction Bible study. We are a church which is learning from our Lord how to genuinely care for people. There is not a perfect one among us! We are all sinners saved by grace. We are a community on an exciting pilgrimage with God. Our invitation is: "Come and Walk Along With Us"
Balboa Baptist is a group of people who come from different geographic areas of the U.S. Our faith in Jesus Christ and our desire to serve Him give us unity. We began with 20 members as a mission church in 1991 and the church was chartered in 1992 with 64 members. Today we have over 600 members and a physical plant valued at more than $3.5 million. In November 2005 we birthed a new mission church, Coronado Baptist, with about 85 of our members committing to the new church. Our mission is to love all people to Christ and help them in their journey with God and each other.
It won't take you long to discover that Balboa is truly a family rich in the relationships that matter most. Growing together, we worship, we serve, we laugh, we cry, we learn, and we reach out to our world with life-transforming truth. We reach out to you, as well. Our doors and our hearts are open. If you've been thinking, praying, searching and hoping for a place to belong, we say again --
"Come and Walk Along With Us"
Vasco Nuñez de Balboa (1475-1519) was a Spanish explorer who was the first European to see the eastern part of the Pacific Ocean (in 1513), crossing the Isthmus of Panama. In 1500, Balboa sailed with Rodrigo de Bastidas from Spain to Colombia, South America. They searched for treasures (pearls and gold) along the northern coast of South America and in the Gulf of Uraba (near San Sebastian).
Like Balboa, this congregation are explorers of God's wonderful world. We are looking for treasures also - the "lost and the un-churched." When these treasures are found and collected within Balboa Baptish Church, we too feel that we have found pearls and gold!
