Then there is Branson, Mo. just a short drive Northwest just about 4 hours or so. Even a trip to St Louis, Missouri will take only about 5 hours of your day, plenty of time to make Busch Stadium to watch the Cardinals play. Truly we are “THE-MIDDLE” of SOMEWHERE!!! Visit the campus, witness the ON going growth and expansion of the facilities there! See the adjacent airport area, originating from our 1942-46 WWII Base facility. We have two 18 hole golf courses for your convenience requiring little or no tee times. This community of just over 7000 population boasts a service hospital, 2 full skilled care Geriatric facilities, 2 full service Assisted Living Facilities. 2 steel manufacturing & productions companies, 2 grain storage transporting facilities and 2 courthouses in the county. One active & one is now a Museum situated near a historical Civil War battlefield. Two main rivers, the White provides barge navigation, water sports, an amazing source of our famous “Catfish”and fresh water pearls.
Our annual “PORTFEST” Festival in Jacksonport State Park is enjoyed every June on the beaches of the White River. The Black River will suit your fancy if its trout you like. Our community hosts one of the largest (UNDER ONE ROOF) snack chip producers in THE NATION and one of the oldest sawmill lumber companies in the area.
