Welcome to the Craighead County Solid Waste Disposal Authority website! We are located at 238 County Road 476 (off Highway 1 South), Jonesboro, Arkansas and are commonly referred to as Legacy Landfill.
Our staff is committed to making your solid waste disposal experience as safe, efficient, and pleasant as possible. Residents and small commercial businesses can now unload inside our large, covered building regardless of the weather. We have three scales for faster traffic control.
Residents of the City of Jonesboro do not have to pay for disposal unless they have construction material or tires if they bring more than four (4) passenger tires per year. A half-cent sales tax collected by the City pays for residential sanitation service. Until February 11, 2011, the minimum charge is $8.75 plus 7% sales tax for up to 600 pounds unloaded. Anything over 600 pounds is pro-rated at $28.75 per ton plus tax. Starting February 1, 2009, rates will be adjusted each year according to the National Consumer Price Index which is released in January.
CCSWDA is the home of the Blue Bag Recycling Program with "Kurby, the Blue Bag." All of Craighead County offers residents the chance to participate in recycling. Click on the link to the left for information on recycling.
